Seattle’s eviction moratorium extended until end of February

SEATTLE — A temporary ban on evictions in Seattle will now expire at the end of February.

The moratorium was set to expire on Monday, but Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell extended it for two weeks on Friday.

During that time, the city will evaluate data, improve existing efforts to help people and seek additional solutions.

The last day of the moratorium is Feb. 28.

Harrell said with a decline in cases of COVID-19, the time has come for the city to move forward.

He said that people still suffering pandemic-related financial hardships will be given enhanced protections.
