Seattle comes in 2nd to Portland on coffee lovers list

In advance of national coffee day on Thursday, WalletHub.com released a list of 2016’s best cities for coffee lovers, putting Seattle second on the list, below Portland, Ore.

WalletHub compared the 100 largest cities across 12 key metrics, ranging from number of coffee shops, coffee houses and cafés per capita to average price of a coffee pack.

The top five cities overall came in as follows:

  1. Portland, OR
  2. Seattle
  3. Minneapolis, MN
  4. Pittsburg, PA
  5. Orlando, FL

All is not lost though. Seattle came in first in three areas. The scale reflects 1=best , 50=average.

1st – Number of Affordable Coffee Shops, Coffee Houses and Cafés Rated 4.5+ Stars per Capita
1st – Number of Coffee Shops, Coffee Houses and Cafés Per Capita
1st – Number of Coffee & Tea Manufacturers per Capita
42nd – Number of Donut Shops per Capita
11th – Percentage of Households that Own Coffee Makers

Real estate site Redfin also looked at coffee-related statistics, posting a list of the most caffeinated cities for 2016.

Redfin looked at data in 100 cities across the U.S. and found the top 10 with the most coffee shops per capita.

For each city, Redfin also highlighted the ZIP code with the most coffee shops per person.

Here are the top 10 most caffeinated cities.

  1. San Francisco, CA
  2. Seattle, WA
  3. Portland, OR
  4. Oakland, CA
  5. Pittsburgh, PA
  6. Paradise, NV
  7. Salt Lake City, UT
  8. New Orleans, LA
  9. Minneapolis, MN
  10. Tacoma, WA
