Russell Wilson leads Seahawks into 'Sacksonville' on Sunday

RENTON, Wash. — Jacksonville enters its next game against Seattle leading the NFL in total defense and sacks.

But just how good is the Jaguars offense?

If the Jags can't run the football well, quarterback Blake Bortles will try and beat a Seahawks secondary that still includes five-time Pro Bowler Earl Thomas.

"(He's a) game manager,” said Sheldon Richardson, a Seahawks defensive tackle. “He (Bortles) is keeping the game to a manageable standpoint for them. They depend on his run game so much that it's working for them right now and their defense is kicking butt, so it's going to be a good game."

This will actually be Russell Wilson's first trip to EverBank Field. Before practice got going Thursday, the Seahawks quarterback shared his thoughts on how he gets ready to play at a stadium where he's never been in before.

"I haven't played there before, so this may sound weird, but I look up pictures of the stadium and try to visualize what things look like, where the play clock is and all of those things, just so I can be comfortable before I even get there,” said Wilson.

Wilson, who is in serious contention for his first MVP award, has 15 fourth-quarter touchdown passes this season, tying the NFL's all-time record.

"Of course, he's a candidate (for the MVP award),” said Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll. “Of course, he is. He's having a great season. He's done so much at this point but that doesn't mean anything until the end."

"What are attributes of an MVP? I think you have to be a winner. I think that they make their team better, they make the other guys around them better and I think they're the best player on the field every Sunday," said Wilson.

"When things don't go your way, that's where the true champions come out. Whether it's in a game or in life or in different moments, the reality is that true winners find a way to adjust in the midst of chaos,” said Wilson.
