Police: No evidence of active shooter at Puyallup mental health center, despite reports

Police in Puyallup responded to the call of an active shooter at a mental health center, but they did not find any evidence that any shots that shots were fired.

Around 10 a.m. on Monday, at least two police departments responded to the city's downtown area to look into an active shooter situation in the 300 block of East Pioneer, according to The Tacoma News Tribune.

No one is hurt, and a woman who made the claims about an active shooter was detained.

Chopper 7 flew over the scene, where people were gathered in the parking lot near Multicare Behavioral Health. In another parking lot nearby, authorities were checking cars with guns in hand, but they did not appear to be checking urgently.

Multicare Behavioral Health is a mental health facility, where a lot of calls are made into authorities. Authorities told KIRO 7 News that they did not evidence of an active shooter, despite reports, but officers still searched the area the area to ensure no one in the facility has a gun.

The scene was cleared shortly after 11 a.m. A lockdown, prompted by police activity, at J P Stewart and Spinning elementary schools was also lifted.
