Starting Monday, users of two popular trails at Seattle's Discovery Park may notice some temporary disruptions as upgrades are made to the nearby water treatment plant.
The Loop and Capehart Trails at the park are being temporarily affected as King County makes upgrades to the nearby West Point Treatment Plant's underground reservoir. That reservoir gives drinking water to the treatment plant, the lighthouse and the fountains at the park.
Crews will install a new 460-foot pipeline to carry extra water away from the treatment plant and populated areas in case of an overflow.
Temporary impacts to these trails may include detours, intermittent closures and vehicles on trails escorted by flaggers.
Work will be happening Monday through Thursday from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is expected to impact the area from three to five months.
