Police seeking woman who assaulted child in Ballard

SEATTLE — Seattle police officers are looking for a woman who showed up intoxicated at a community center in Ballard and assaulted a 4-year-old girl.

The woman is described as a white, 5 feet 8 inches tall and in her 50s with short blond hair. She entered the community center near Northwest 60th Street and 28th Avenue Northwest at around 4 p.m. Monday and attempted to enter a restricted area.

Staff members confronted the woman and prevented her from going further into the center. The woman became more agitated and started walking toward the exit, but on her way out the door, shoved the young girl to the floor.

The child sustained minor injuries.

Officers responded quickly but were unable to locate the woman. The Seattle Police Department is actively searching for the woman.
