TACOMA, Wash. — Police are searching for a 41-year-old man after he allegedly fled the scene of a hit-and-run on a stolen bicycle.
Daniel Bartolome Diego is charged with failure to remain at an accident resulting in death.
The collision occurred at about 8:20 p.m. Wednesday at South 38th and South M streets.
Police say Diego, driving an SUV, hit a motorcyclist while making a left turn onto South M Street.
Diego allegedly ditched the damaged SUV for a passerby’s bike.
The passerby had stopped to perform CPR on the motorcyclist.
The motorcyclist was later identified as 52-year-old Vincent Dombrosky, pronounced dead on-scene.
Another passerby spotted a piece of paper fall from the driver’s pocket as he fled, which had his name on it.
Police tracked down the SUV’s owner – Diego’s roommate. Diego’s roommate told police that he had sold the vehicle to Diego.
Diego is still at large.
Police say he is roughly 5 foot, 4 inches tall and 170 pounds.
