Police: Man wearing fire department jacket taken into custody after reported car prowls

Police took a man into custody Tuesday night after they say he was prowling cars while wearing a fire department coat in West Seattle.

Seattle police sent a tweet at about 8:30 p.m. warning residents to call 911 after officers received reports of someone wearing a stolen Seattle Fire Department jacket and reportedly prowling vehicles.

After a search, police found the man and took him into custody. He was wearing a King County Fire Department coat when he was taken into custody, police said.

Police remind people to call 911 if they see a person impersonating a firefighter or police officer.
