Missing man with dementia found safe

YAKIMA, Wash. — Update: The 77-year-old missing man from Yakima has been found safe.

No injuries were reported due to his missing.

Original story: Police are asking for help in finding a missing 77-year-old man who has dementia.

Richard Hickey was last seen about 1:30 p.m. Friday near an auto parts store on South 40th Avenue and West Nob Hill Boulevard, Yakima police said.

Hickey was reportedly driving a 2006 white Kia Sedona with Washington plates reading 844VBL or AMC4938.

Hickey is described as white, approximately 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds.

He has brown eyes and gray hair and is balding.

Police said Hickey doesn't have his medication with him, which could be detrimental to his wellbeing and safety.

His family told police that he may be headed to the Seattle area.
