Detectives look for driver in Seattle hit-and-run

SEATTLE — Detectives are asking the public's help in locating a man, who they say hit a pedestrian in Seattle and then took off.

Investigators said on Thursday that 28-year-old Kyle Krumm has been charged with vehicular assault and felony hit-and-run but failed to appear in King County Court.

On April 20, officers responded to a report that a car had hit a pedestrian in the 100 block of South Horton Street and fled. When officers arrived they found a 39-year-old woman with bone fractures.

Police said the woman was making her way through a parking lot when a man exited a car and asked her to move so they could back a car out of its space.

The woman, who was using a cane to walk, told the man it would take her some time to get out of the way. The man then went back into the passenger side of the waiting vehicle.

Police said the driver of the car backed out of the spot at high rate of speed and struck the victim. She fell on the ground and was run over by the car.

Witnesses told police the driver “floored it” in an attempt to flee. A bystander followed the car to get a description and later gave it to police.

Detectives were able to find the owner of the vehicle but she did not provide any information about who might have been driving her car during the time of the incident. The car was impounded as part of the investigation.

Anyone who sees Krumm is asked to call 911 or the Seattle Police Department at 206-684-5000.
