Police look for driver, passenger after hit-and-run in Seattle

Vehicle involved in an April 20 hit-and-run in Seattle that left a 39-year-old woman seriously injured.

SEATTLE — Detectives are asking the public for more information to help solve a hit-and-run from last month in Seattle that left a 39-year-old woman with serious injuries.

On April 20, officers responded to a report that a car had hit a pedestrian and fled the scene in the 100 block of South Horton Street. When officers arrived they found a woman with bone fractures.

Police said the woman was making her way through a parking lot when a man exited a vehicle and asked her to move so they could back a car out of its stall.

The woman, who was using a cane to walk, told the man it would take her some time to get out of the way. The man then went back into the passenger side of the waiting vehicle.

According to police, the driver of the car backed the vehicle out of the spot at high rate of speed and struck the victim. She fell on the ground and was run over by the car.

Witnesses told police the “floored it” in an attempt to flee the scene. A bystander followed the vehicle to get a description and later gave it to police.

Police said the driver and passenger of the vehicle were black men and the driver appeared to be in his 20s. Witnesses reported the driver was at Studio Seven for a concert.

Detectives were able to find the owner of the vehicle but she did not provide any information on who might have been driving her car during the time of the incident. The car was impounded as part of the investigation.

Anyone with more information about the incident or the identity of the passenger or driver is asked to call the Seattle Police Department violent crimes tip line at 206-233-5000.
