The fires were reported within 45 minutes of each other starting around 2 a.m. Friday.

One fire was near 23rd Avenue Southwest and Southwest 342nd Street, another one was near 28th Avenue Southwest and Southwest 341st Street and a third was at 22nd Avenue Southwest and Southwest 338th Street.

All were in close proximity to one another in the Twin Lakes South neighborhood.

"I heard ... like a pop,” said Kathy Croyle, whose daughter’s boyfriend’s Honda went up in flames.

Two cars and a travel trailer were burned.

“At first, you know, you think, 'OK, someone is targeting us or kids are playing jokes,' but after hearing that there were two other fires, that was really concerning to me,” said Croyle.

A man who owns an Audi that burned said he and his family were awoken by an explosion about 2:30 a.m. The car was burning, as well as a fence. The flames came dangerously close to their home, but no one was hurt.

"Our first thing is get everyone out of the house because we're thinking it's going to spread,” said Venoy Overton, who owns the Audi. “Family -- that can't be replaced. We're lucky that it was just the car."

The Fire Marshal told KIRO 7 the fire appeared to have started in the Audi’s trunk. The Honda at Kathy Croyle’s home also had the heaviest damage in the back of the car.

Federal Way police are conducting a criminal investigation but have not yet released information about a suspect or motive.
