Pierce County home invasion caught on surveillance

EDGEWOOD, Wash. — Detectives are looking for a robbery suspect who broke into an Edgewood man’s home on Wednesday.

The incident was caught on surveillance video.

The homeowner showed KIRO 7 the video, which showed him being held at gunpoint, forced to hand over cash, gold and jewels.

Pierce County sheriff's investigators said the armed robber targeted the man knowing there would be a large amount of cash in his safe.

“We’d like to get the person caught because when you put a gun to somebody’s head, a lot of things can go sideways and somebody can get hurt. We’re lucky he’s OK,” said Detective Ed Troyer. “We believe that it was a planned event because he knew where to go, what to look for and what to do.”
