Pierce County deputies searching for missing 78-year-old woman with dementia

KEY PENINSULA, Wash. — Deputies with the Pierce County Sheriff's Department are asking for the public's help in finding 78-year-old Sharron Haije (Hey-gee) who was last seen on June 23 in Key Peninsula, Washington.

Key Peninsula is a 16-mile finger of land that extends south from the Kitsap Peninsula in Pierce County.

Officials said Haije was last seen in the area of Wright Bliss Road and 105th Street NW wearing a blue nightgown. Haije has dyed short red hair, and authorities say she suffers from dementia.

A multiagency search was initiated, but was called off at 8 p.m. after "every single possible resource was tapped from multiple county support," according to the Key Peninsula Fire Department.

Authorities now think that Haije was picked up near Wright Bliss Road and 105th Street before the search effort was launched.

Anyone with information on Haije's location is asked to call 911.
