Pedestrian struck by car in North Seattle

A pedestrian has life-threatening injuries after she was struck by a car in Seattle's Roosevelt neighborhood.

The crash occurred in the intersection of Northeast 65th Street and Roosevelt Way Northeast at about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.

It's an intersection neighbors say needs major safety upgrades.

"People drive quickly, trying to get to the freeway, there's so much pedestrian traffic, there's so much bicycle traffic, they're just not working together," said neighbor Oralea Howard.

The victim was taken to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition.

That area of Roosevelt was slated to get bike lane protections in last year's master bike plan.

Neighbors say they want something similar for pedestrians.
