An Oak Harbor police officer was arrested Thursday night during a child pornography investigation, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

The officer was identified as John Little. He’s a 27-year veteran of the force, who formerly worked as the Oak Harbor High School resource officer, according to the Whidbey News-Times.

The FBI used a search warrant at his residence near Southwest Kleeton Loop and Southwest Barrington Drive.

“Our investigation is ongoing, so I will hold off on providing further details at this time,” agency spokeswoman Ayn Dietrich-Williams said. “Once we file the search results and charges, further information will be viewable.”

Little is expected Friday afternoon in U.S. District Court in Seattle.

Interim Police Administrator Terry Gallagher told the Whidbey News-Times he immediately placed Little on paid administrative leave and had him surrender his badge and gun.

“This isn't the first time that Severns has dealt with problems at the Oak Harbor Police Department,” according to a report from Whidbey News-Times co-editor Jessie Stensland. “He initiated his own investigation into morale problems and in-fighting within the department.”
