EVERETT, Wash. — One of the brothers suspected in the murder of an Arlington couple appeared before the judge for the first time Wednesday morning.
During the brief hearing in the San Diego courtroom, Tony Reed signed papers to waive his extradition hearing. He is set to be sent back to Washington within 20 days.
Authorities believe Reed and his brother, John Reed, had fled to Mexico. John Reed remains at large.

Shari Ireton with the Snohomish County Sheriff Office says the hope now is that Reed will not only help authorities track down his older brother, John Reed, but to also lead investigators to the victims bodies.
“Getting Tony Reed is huge for us,” says Ireton. “We really want to locate Patrick and Monique, so we are hoping that this is one piece that will get us closer to that.”
Mysterious people are trying to get police records in the case of two brothers accused of killing Arlington couple Patrick Shunn and Monique Patenaude last month.

Ireton says the request by individuals who do not appear directly connected to the case for police reports could potentially slow down investigation.
Snohomish County Chief Civil Prosecutor Jason Cummings told KIRO 7 his office is asking a Superior Court judge to seal these documents until both suspects are in custody.
He and the Sheriff’s Office can’t say if those requesting records have connection to the suspects, but they can't take any chances.
“Turning over all investigative information to the public or the media is basically handing it right over to the suspects,” says Ireton.
A hearing on the police records request is set for this coming Friday.
Tony Reed is being held without bail. No word yet on the exact date on when he will be picked up to come back to Washington.
