A man was fatally struck by a pickup truck early Friday as he walked along state Route 512 in Puyallup, according to the State Patrol.
The man has not been identified.
Troopers said the man was walking in the eastbound lane near Canyon Road East when the truck hit him just before 4 a.m. It’s unclear why the pedestrian was in the road.
At least one driver called 911 to report the man in the road before he was struck by a passing truck.
The driver of the truck that hit the man immediately stopped and is cooperating with investigators.
One lane of SR 512 was shut for several hours while troopers processed the scene. It reopened at 7:20 a.m.
