Police arrested a 31-year-old man suspected of stabbing 17-year-old boy last month in Seattle's Rainier Valley.
On Dec. 27 shortly after noon, police responded to a report of a stabbing at Renton Avenue South and South Henderson Street.
Prosecutors said the teen was walking home from the bus when a man stabbed him in the neck and repeatedly kicked the victim in the head.
Police said the suspect then walked away from the scene.
Witnesses and responding officers gave the victim first aid until medics arrived. The victim was taken to Harborview Medical Center and is expected to recover from his injuries.
Officers located and detained a possible suspect nearby and witnesses positively identified the man as a suspect.
Prosecutors said the suspect told police that "he was trying to kill the victim, he wanted to kill white
people, and he wanted to shoot police officers."
The 31-year-old man was taken into custody and was booked into the King County Jail.
Police said the suspect and victim did not know each other.
The investigation remains ongoing.
