Local residents react to Trump inauguration

Western Washington residents in Washington, D.C. for the inauguration of Donald Trump had sharply differing reactions.

Ashley and Chad Butenschoen, from Lynden, used the occasion to celebrate their 11th wedding anniversary.

"I think you're going to see people start to realize that he can build up our economy, build jobs and if he does what he says, everything can get better," she said after helping her husband pick up his tux for an inauguration ball.

Jill Johnston came from Bainbridge Island for the Women’s March against President Trump and said, “My concern is the dismantling of a lot of policies, the kind of lack of respect for truth and facts and the lack of respect for the voices of all people."
