A Monroe dance instructor was arrested Tuesday, suspected of child molestation.
Kristopher Backmann, 32, taught ballet, turns and leaps, and contemporary dance, according to his bio from Stanza PAC. He was booked into the Snohomish County Jail after a seven-month investigation, police said.
“The mother and 15-year-old female victim contacted the department in November of
2015 to report the allegations,” a police statement said. “Multiple witnesses were contacted, each describing inappropriate or ‘raunchy’ conversations the suspect had with students at the dance studio.”
Police alleged Backmann also played Cards Against Humanity, a game that includes adult topics, and told girls not to let others know the game was played.
Backmann has not been charged.
When reached by phone, an attorney for Backman, called the police raid on his studio a scare tactic. He said the molestation allegation is a year-old "rumor."
The attorney also pointed to the fact that Backman was released without bail as a sign the judge did not consider him an immediate danger to society.
