A suspected con man accused of impersonating an FBI agent and robbing businesses appeared in Federal Court on Tuesday.

A suspected con man accused of impersonating an FBI agent and robbing businesses appeared in Federal Court on Tuesday.

Steven Wyatt Fisher of Lake Stevens is accused of using the name “Frank Abagnale” on a bogus warrant. Frank Abagnale was a real-life con man portrayed by Leonardo DiCaprio in the Hollywood film “Catch Me If You Can.” He’s also accused of identifying himself as “Jack Ryan,” an FBI agent popularized in Tom Clancy novels and films.

He’s charged with seven federal felonies. The United States Attorney’s Office argued Fisher should stay behind bars as he awaits his trial. But the judge ruled he could be released into his mother’s custody with several conditions.

Tonight at 6, Siemny Kim will have more on Fisher's alleged elaborate impersonation scheme and why the feds believe Fisher is a "clear danger to the community and a risk of flight." Watch on-air or online here.
