Lacey police investigating double murder

Police are investigating after finding two roommates dead inside a home where they had responded to a verbal disturbance on Saturday afternoon.

The suspect is 24-year-old Logan Richard Ochoa. He was booked into the Thurston County Jail on arresting charges of first-degree murder.

Lacey police say he shot his two victims. Both were his roommates, 25-year-old Nicholas Olson of Lacey and 23-year-old Summer Scheibel of Olympia.

At 1:37 p.m., the Lacey Police Department received a report of a disturbance in the 1200 block of Crowe Street Southeast. Officers spoke with a woman who had called 911 and said that her boyfriend was not allowing her back inside the home.

When officers arrived, Ochoa came outside and spoke with them. He provided the officers with information that indicated that two other roommates may have been injured and were still inside the house, according to police.

Officers entered the residence and found that two roommates had been shot. They then called in medics who pronounced the two victims as deceased.

Neighbors say there’s been trouble at the house before.

"I kind of felt like something might happen though honestly, because of all the activity there. Cops were literally there twice a month, for months now. Lots of domestic, lots of partying, lots of traffic," said neighbor LeRoy Kover.

El Pulgarcito II, the Salvadorian restaurant at the end of the street, told KIRO 7 its surveillance cameras captured the suspect minutes before he was arrested.

In the video, you see a man with no shirt and no shoes on, walking down the street looking upset.

A short while later, you see police cars and an officer talking with someone in the back seat.

Neighbors say despite the trouble, they never expected things to escalate this far.

“It’s shocking. You don’t think this is ever going to happen,” Kover said.

Lacey police are currently actively investigating.

The double murder comes about one month after the murder-suicide at a Michael’s parking lot in Lacey. That incident happened about a half-mile away.
