Inmate escapes while out on work crew in Cowlitz County

KELSO, Wash. — A 36-year-old inmate walked away from his corrections crew on Monday morning in Kelso, according to the Cowlitz County Sheriff's Office.

The inmate, Monte E. Huigens, walked away around 10:30 a.m. and was last seen near the Hall of Justice.

Huigens was in custody for investigation of domestic violence, a no-contact order violation, harassment and assault.

Officers are trying to locate the victim and notify her of his escape.

Huigens was last seen wearing an orange shirt with stripes, tan pants, and red "Jordan" shoes. 
He is 6 feet 3 inches and weighs 185 pounds. Since the photo was taken, Huigens has shaved his head and is now nearly bald.

Police have asked people to call 911 if they spot Huigens.
