Hungry teen trio cuffed after baring blade to security guard

SEATTLE, Wash. — Three teen girls are behind bars after pulling a knife on a loss prevention officer at a local store, Seattle police said.

Authorities said the teens entered a store near NE 123rd Street and 15th Avenue NE. After entering, the teens made a beeline for the deli section, snatching sandwiches and combination meals they had ordered and stuffing them inside a backpack.

The trio left the store without paying for the food.

When the prevention officer confronted them, one of the girls pulled a knife. The officer backed off.

Seattle police officers located and arrested the girls several blocks away.

Two of the teens were 14 years old. One was 15 years old.

Police said one of them was listed as a runaway and had a misdemeanor warrant.

The girls are believed to have been involved in a similar robbery at a store at the Northgate Mall last week. Police said the girls pounced on a security guard and set off a fire extinguisher off in his office.

Officers booked the three teens into the Youth Services Center for the latest incident and forwarded the case to detectives for investigation.
