There is a ridge of high pressure to the east of the Cascade Mountains. That should keep us dry for Monday, then things should start to change overnight and into Tuesday morning, according to KIRO 7 PinPoint meteorologists.

The first of a series of systems will move in out of the Pacific Ocean. The first system is fairly weak and is expected to lose a lot of its punch as it moved into that ridge of high pressure. Rain is expected to significantly increase later Tuesday night.

One area to keep an eye on is the Cascades because there is enough cold air trapped in the mountains that as this moisture starts to move in during Monday and Tuesday, that could lead to freezing rain. A Winter Storm Watch is in place there throughout Tuesday.

Rains are expected locally through at least Wednesday. High temperatures in Seattle will be in the low 50s Tuesday and Wednesday.
