Guns, swords seized during drug investigation at tent near I-5

SEATTLE — Handguns, rifles and swords were seized from a tent near I-5 after an earlier investigating by Seattle officers and narcotics detectives.

Police seized a cache of handguns and rifles from a tent on a grassy hill near Interstate 5 following an investigation earlier this month by East Precinct officers and Narcotics Unit detectives.

Police had been told that several people were selling drugs out of a tent 50 yards from Dearborn Avenue underneath I-5.

The large tent, covered by a canopy of tarps, was reportedly set up with a “reception area” for buyers to place orders and had its own security guards.

Police also received information that the dealers in the tent were armed and that there had been recent disputes in the area between several armed groups.

Late Thursday morning, SPD SWAT officers and narcotics detectives served a warrant at the tent.

While no one was in the tent when officers searched it, police did find a revolver, two air pistols, three rifles, ammunition and four long knives and swords.

Police seized the weapons and continue to investigate.
