Four boats damaged in marina fire Sunday

The fire started in a 50-foot wooden boat and spread and quickly spread.

SEATTLE, Wash. — Four boats were damaged Sunday night in a fire at Shilshole Bay Marina in Seattle’s Ballard Neighborhood.

The fire started around 8 p.m. Sunday.

Rachel Currier, who witnessed the fire, says it grew quickly. “Within two minutes (there) was black, billowing smoke coming out of the top so we called 911 and we started pulling boats out of the way."

The fire started in a 50-foot wooden boat and spread to a second, smaller wooden boat and then to two runabouts.

There were no injuries.

Neighbors say the same person owns all four boats and was in the process of restoring them.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
