Firefighters extricate person from car after rollover on street near Seward Park

SEATTLE — Firefighters extricated a passenger from a car after a rollover on a street near Seward Park on Tuesday evening, officials said.

The accident happened around 9 p.m. at Wilson Avenue South and South Graham Street. Crews responded for one car on its side, and firefighters worked to remove one trapped occupant from the vehicle. The patient was safely extricated and taken to a hospital in stable conditions.

Neighbors told KIRO 7 that a truck, parked oddly on the street, caused a chain reaction that led to the rollover.

Witnesses said a car, trying to avoid a truck at Wilson Avenue South and South Graham Street, went into a nearby yard. They said that then another car tried to avoid the first one and flipped over.

KIRO 7's Alison Grande reported on changes to this same street back in June. Residents who live near Seward Park were upset with the city's new street configuration, which puts the bike lanes on the outside next to the sidewalk and creates parking boxes next to traffic for cars.
