Fire spreads in Grass Valley leading to evacuations

The Grass Valley fire has quickly grown to nearly 75,000 acres after starting Saturday morning, forcing  evacuations in central Washington around Coulee Dam.

The fire started at 11:24 a.m. and was burning in grass, brush and timber. It started at an estimated 1,000 acres but quickly grew, threatening homes, crops and infrastructure. One firefighter was injured yesterday.

Firefighters were battling high winds Sunday as the fire continued to spread.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
