Fire destroys semitruck cab on I-90 near Vantage, causes brush fire

(Washington State Patrol)

An investigation is underway to figure out what caused a semitruck headed on westbound I-90 to burst into flames Wednesday afternoon.

Photos show the cab of the semi, which was hauling hay, was completely destroyed.

Trooper John Bryant said the driver got out in time and did not suffer any injuries.

The fire spread to brush on the side of the road and caused a brush fire, Bryant said. The fire threatened multiple structures, which were evacuated, the Washington State Department of Natural Resources said.

Fire crews were called to put out the brush fire on Parke Creek Road near Koffman Road.

All eastbound lanes of I-90 at milepost 131 and one westbound lane were reopened after a couple of hours of being closed.
