The Island County Sheriff’s Office told KIRO 7 News that someone threw the 6-year-old put bill-terrier mix named Daisy out a moving car window at 8 p.m. Monday. The vehicle was described as a white four-door SUV.

Daisy was hit by another vehicle. A good Samaritan took the dog to the vet, but her internal injuries were too severe and she died.

Animal control officers found a microchip on the dog and learned her name, but authorities are asking the public for information.

Pasado’s Safe Haven and WAIF Animal Shelter are offering a $2,000 reward for information that could lead to an arrest. Authorities said the people responsible for throwing Daisy out of the car could face up to 5 years in prison or a $10,000 fine.
