Search and rescue crews met at the base of the trail and climbed three hours to the spot where the dog was believed to be trapped.

"It was a slow, three-hour climb to the spot," officials with the Washington State Animal Response Team [WASART] wrote. "Up a creek bed, then up to follow the ridge to where the dog had slipped over and down about a hundred feet."

The dog was helped up from where it was stuck.

The owner and dog then made their way carefully back down out of the wilderness.

WASART officials do not know how the dog is doing but say they’re “hoping for the best for everyone involved.”

Information on the dog’s condition will be added as it is received.
