Des Moines dog-nappers steal valuable puppies in heartbreaking heist

DES MOINES, Wash. — 17-year-old Madi Stumpf spent countless hours raising the litter of four rare 10-week-old purebred Olde English Bulldog puppies from birth. [Click here to see photos of the puppies.]

She was hoping to sell the pups for more than $1,000 each.

On Thursday morning, two men acting like potential customers came to her home with a sad story.

"They said their mother's bulldog had just died," Madi said. "Can we hold them?" the men asked.

Madi’s boyfriend agreed. Madi says what happened next was unimaginable.

“My boyfriend turned around for a second, and they were running down the street,” she said. “There was the two men, they each had one bulldog in their arms, and my boyfriend grabbed a bat, and ran after them..."

The men ran out of sight -- and the puppies have not been seen since. Des Moines police took a report and saw a photo of the dogs, but so far, Stumpf says there's no telling where the pups are.

She says even though it was a heartless crime, she’d take the puppies back from anyone who returns them, without asking any questions.

"It's not about the investment, the price," she said. "I just honestly want my puppies back. I love them."
