Two shot in attempted murder-suicide in East Bremerton

Police lights

BREMERTON, Wash. — The Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office says a man shot his wife and then turned the gun on himself at a storage unit in East Bremerton Thursday morning.

Police and medics were called to a self-storage facility in the 1900 block of Northeast Riddell Road at 10:06 a.m. Thursday where a woman, her stepfather and her husband were meeting.

Deputies say the couple, who were soon to be divorced, were meeting there to exchange household goods.

The husband, 41, arrived in a U-Haul vehicle and the wife, 40, and her stepfather arrived in an SUV.

As the woman was getting out of the SUV, her husband exited his vehicle with a gun and opened fire.

His wife, who was struck by the gunfire, got back into the SUV to protect herself.  Her stepfather was not hurt.

The husband then shot himself in the head.  He was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center.  His condition is not known.

The woman was taken to Harrison Medical Center with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
