Death of man found in Seattle’s Matthews Beach Park ruled a homicide, police say

SEATTLE — Homicide detectives are investigating after a man’s body was found Sunday in Seattle’s Matthews Beach Park, the Seattle Police Department said Monday.

Police said they received reports of a body found in Thornton Creek inside the park around 11 a.m.

Matthews Beach Park is a 22-acre park located in northeast Seattle on the west shore of Lake Washington.

Detectives at the scene and officials with the Harbor Unit helped assist with the recovery of the body from the creek.

The King County Medical Examiner’s office conducted an investigation and ruled the death a homicide, police said.
