Death investigation underway after body found in Morton

MORTON, Wash. — The Lewis County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a man found in the Morton area on Saturday.

Deputies became aware that a 37-year-old Centralia man was missing on Aug. 6 after his apartment manager told police he had not seen the man for several days.

On Saturday at about 4:30 p.m., Lewis County deputies and members of search and rescue were combing the area where the man’s motorcycle was found on a spur road off of Forest Road 73 the previous day.

During the search, they were contacted by a friend of the family who said he had found the body of the missing man.

Deputies and searchers went to the site where the body was found and began an investigation.

An autopsy is pending, and the identity of the victim will be released by the Lewis County Coroner's Office.
