Coming up on KIRO 7: Coast Guard steps up drug enforcement on high seas

The Coast Guard is stepping up its enforcement of drugs on the high seas, and they’re seeing better results than all of law enforcement on land.

The numbers are staggering and the take-downs of these drug smugglers are dramatic.

“At the end of the day, the cartels that are running these drugs -- they’re very dangerous organizations,” Lt. Commander Jennifer Runion, of Seattle, said.

In a report on Nov. 17 on KIRO 7 at 5 p.m., more than a week was spent with a Coast Guard unit from Port Angeles, Washington, as they went after the major drug cartels. Watch on-air or at this link.
