Car crashes into Federal Way office

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — A driver pummeled through the front glass of an office Friday morning, narrowly avoiding a worker sitting at a desk.

Beth Sprau, the marketing director of the Divine CNA nursing school in Federal Way, said she was sitting at that desk when she saw a driver trying to park her red Toyota Camry.

Sprau said she saw the car coming right at her, seemingly in slow motion.

“The car stopped before the desk smashed into me,” she said.

The desk was shoved against the wall so that Sprau was unable to get out. She was uninjured, so she made a call to 911.

The driver was also uninjured and exited the car.

“God was watching over me,” Sprau said.

Because the car went in at an angle, it crashed into the wall separating Divine CNA with Qual-Tech Dental Lab next door.

In the dental lab, Kim Shepherd said she first thought the sound could have been a terrorist attack.

“At that moment, I thought the whole thing might collapse. So I screamed. And at that time, it just stopped,” Shepherd said.

Shepherd said she let the driver come into her office to keep warm. The young woman told Shepherd she was borrowing a friend’s car and had stepped on the wrong pedal.
