Car catches fire after crashing into Buddhist temple

SEATTLE, Wash. — Two women crashed a car into a building Saturday, causing an estimated $25,000 worth of damage.

The women are recovering with minor injuries at Harborview Medical Center.

Local witnesses told KIRO 7 that the two women hit multiple cars and busted through a fence before crashing into the South Seattle building, later identified as a Buddhist temple.

According to authorities, the car burst into flames upon impact.

Surveillance video obtained by KIRO 7 shows smoke clouding the area. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire after it spread to the building.

The temple is located on Martin Luther King Jr. Way South and South Holly Street.

Authorities have not said why the driver lost control.
