SEATTLE — Demolition is well underway after a three-alarm fire destroyed a string of Ballard businesses in October.
The structures for La Isla, Kitchen N' Things, Coleman Jewelers and Supercuts sustained heavy damage and were all considered total losses.
The Pho Vietnamese restaurant that borders Coleman Jewelers was damaged from smoke exposure and water.
Classic Consignment, which is located directly to the north of the burned buildings, had also been closed since the fire.
But now, the business is relaunching, just 10 blocks from the old location.
"I'm really relieved that we were able to find something so quickly. The fire happened only a month ago," Paula Lukoff, of Classic Consignment, told KIRO 7's Ranji Sinha on Thursday.
The new location is at 14th Avenue and Market Street at the old Parker Paint Building.
While the new location needs work, Lukoff said she's up to the task and has help from neighboring stores, such as Ballard Blossom, which also just moved into the location.
Rachel Martin, owner of Ballard Blossom, said she's giving Lukoff items from her old flower shop to help set up the new Classic Consignment.
"We lost so many of the displays and various things in the fire so it helps us get on our feet. She's wonderful," Lukoff said of Martin.
Lukoff said staying in Ballard will help customers easily find the business again and she hopes to open the new Classic Consignment by mid-December.
