Brace yourself: Utilities could increase more than 20% by 2020

Seattle area residents may be surprised to receive a postcard from Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) that announces increases in fees that range from 3.2 percent in 2018 to 8.2 percent in 2019 and a whopping 9.5 percent increase for 2020.

If you don't think these increases are fair, you can let SPU and the Seattle City Council know by attending one of the upcoming City Council's Civil Rights, Utilities, Economic Development & Arts Committee (CRUEDA) hearings. The hearings will be held at Seattle City Hall on the following dates:
Tuesday, July 11, 9:30 a.m.
Tuesday, July 25, 9:30 a.m.
Tuesday, August 8, 9:30 a.m.

If you can't attend a hearing you can contact CRUEDA Committee Chair Lisa Herbold at Lisa.Herbold@seattle.gov or (206) 684-8803/

Find more information about SPU's business plan update, proposed rates, and upcoming hearings visit the CRUEDA web page.
