Baby falcons rescued by King County employees

King County employees rescued several baby falcons that fell out of their nest on the third floor window ledge of the King County Courthouse.

SEATTLE — King County employees rescued several baby falcons that fell out of their nest on the third floor window ledge of the King County Courthouse.

After they saved the birds from oncoming traffic, Seattle Animal Control was called and staff took the chicks to the Progressive Animal Welfare Society in Lynnwood, which specializes in wildlife rescue.

According to KC Employee News, the baby falcons were examined, and out of the three, one bird had a fracture, but otherwise, all were declared mostly healthy with no serious injuries.

The chicks were kept at the facility for several weeks because they were too young to fly.  They were then reunited with their family.

Under the watch of two PAWS animal specialists, two of the chicks were released on the roof of the King County Administration Building.

Both birds appear to be healthy and were seen flying above the courthouse and jail. The third will be monitored at PAWS before being released.
