SEATTLE — The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is offering a $15,000 reward in the hopes investigators can determine who’s responsible for an arson at a Queen Anne lumber business last month.
The four-alarm fire at the Gascoigne Lumber Company Nov. 11 was the largest that Seattle had experienced in eight years, with the last large fire in 2010.
The main building owned by Gascoigne collapsed. The fire also engulfed four other buildings in the area.
Seattle fire said five buildings, power lines, multiple vehicles, and a home and trailer on the waterfront were damaged or destroyed. The ATF said the total loss is estimated at about $12 million.
The $15,000 reward is offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the fire. The Arson Alarm Foundation is also offering a reward from its annual $10,000 reward fund, bringing the possible total reward up to $25,000.
Anyone with information about the fire is asked to call ATF's hotline at 1-888-ATF-TIPS (283-8477) or the Arson Alarm Foundation at 1-800-55-ARSON (1-800-552-7766), or by sending an e-mail to arsoninfo@arsonalarm.org, or on the organization's website at arsonalarm.org.
