ABERDEEN, Wash. — Officers with the Aberdeen Police Department returned a stolen $300 motorcycle helmet to a man on a tour of the United States on Sunday.
Police said a man on a cross-country tour of the U.S. forgot his Harley Davidson helmet as he brought items into his Aberdeen hotel room for a single-night stay on Saturday.
When the man returned to the parking lot to retrieve his helmet, it was gone.
Surveillance video showed a man on a bike had taken the helmet and fled.
Police said the motorcycle helmet was returned to the Aberdeen Police Department and was back with the victim by noon on Sunday.
"The victim was amazed at how diligently officers worked to get his helmet back," Sgt. Darrin King with the Aberdeen Police Department said in a news release.
Police said the suspect is known to police, and is considered still at-large.
