Updated:Boisfort, Lewis County —
An 8-year old boy who was rescued from the Chehalis River has died.
The Lewis County Sheriff's Office tell KIRO 7 the boy was reported missing by his mother around 4.30PM Friday afternoon.
The boy was located about an hour later, about a quarter mile down river from his Ceres Hill Road home. He was on a gravel bar in the middle of the Chehalis River, police say.
Deputies trained in swift water rescue perfrormed CPR on the boy.
He was later transported to Centralia Providence Hospital, where he was pronounced dead just after 7PM.
The boys name has not been released.
The Lewis County Sheriff's Office is conducting an investigation in the boy's drowning.
