3-year-old found in stolen car after Ellensburg Co. high-speed chase

A 3-year-old boy was found in the back seat of a stolen vehicle after a high-speed chase with authorities near Ellensburg, deputies said.

Kittitas County Sheriff’s Department wrote in a news release that a deputy tried to stop a vehicle for what they call a “severe lane travel” on Interstate 90 and milepost 102.

The Honda Fit did not yield for the officer and instead hit the gas, with speeds reaching over 100 miles per hour, according to deputies.

Other deputies and troopers responded.

The Honda hit a spike on the interstate, placed there by one of the responding deputies.

Authorities detained Lalanie E. McGahan, 38, of Renton, and the front seat passenger, Isaac J. McGahan, 19, of Renton.

Police say the driver’s son was in a car seat in the back. He is unharmed.

The car was stolen from a burglary in Seattle, police said.
