3 taken into custody after stolen car pursuit in Seattle

SEATTLE — Three people were arrested early Sunday after a police chase.

At about 12:30 a.m. officers spotted a vehicle, that had been taken in an armed carjacking on Saturday, in the 300 block of Melrose Avenue East in Capitol Hill.

As officers got closer to the car to stop it, the stolen vehicle took off and the driver attempted to elude police.

Police said the officers pursued the vehicle to the Rainier Beach neighborhood, where the suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.

Officers spotted the driver of the vehicle throw a gun as he was running and another handgun was found in the back seat of the car.

Officers and a K-9 team tracked the suspects to the 8700 block of Hamlet Avenue South.

The three suspects were found hiding underneath a parked car and were taken into custody.

The adult and two juveniles were booked into the King County Jail and Youth Services Center.

The investigation remains ongoing.
