2 hurt in Auburn crash that cut power, closed road

AUBURN, Wash. — Two people were hurt, a road is closed and power was out in a neighborhood after a crash in Auburn Friday morning.

A car with two people inside crashed into a transformer box at about 2:30 a.m. at 124th Avenue Southeast at Southeast 304th Street. Police said 124th will be closed in both directions until about 9 a.m.

The crash in the Lea Hill neighborhood cut power to about 4,000 customers and caused some intersections to be dark. It has since been restored.

Auburn police said the male driver and a female passenger both have serious injuries.

Officers say excess speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.
