Driver seriously injured during shooting on Renton road, police say

RENTON, Wash. — A woman in a vehicle was seriously injured after she was hit by gunfire during a shooting involving two other vehicles Sunday night in Renton, according to police.

Police were called to the 300 block of Rainier Avenue South and South 3rd Street after reports of gunfire around 9:30 p.m.

Witnesses told police there were two vehicles traveling west towards Southwest Sunset Boulevard and numerous shots were fired from one vehicle at the other, according to authorities.

During the shooting, a driver inside another vehicle not involved was hit. That driver, an innocent woman, went off the road into a parking lot.

Police said passengers riding with the woman called 911. The driver was taken to Harborview Medical Center with serious injuries. As of Monday morning, the victim is in critical condition.

A passenger in the vehicle was taken to Valley Medical Center for an unrelated medical condition, officials said.

No others were injured.

The suspects fled the scene.
